This is our last week of Session 1. We'll review some lessons, and add a few new websites you can use to learn English. Session 2 starts on Monday 7/1/13.
L. 1 - Practice listening and do matching exercises here.

L. 3 - Upper Beginning Vocabulary - choose the words you want to learn, then do the exercises
L. 4 - 9 Reading and Listening Practice - use any of these four books and practice reading, listening and other activities. We'll see how to use this site in class
L. 5 - 6 Reading and Grammar Exercises at this website from Mission Campus
L. 7 - 9 Popular songs from 1960 to 1999 are here to download to your mp 3 player/iPod or to burn a CD. But you hear only the first 30 seconds of the song. [With the song and singer's name, you can find the full version on YouTube.] There are English exercises for each song, which you can also download. We'll practice using this in class.
Transition to Credit ESL - The EFL Club is a good resource for students who want to prepare for college-level reading and vocabulary.
ALL LEVELS
Irregular Verbs Flashcards - these are very useful in learning English. We'll see how to use this website in class.
Vocabulary with pictures, sound and practice exercises. This includes a dictation where you can improve your spelling ability.
Side by Side Video Program on YouTube - you can watch these videos even though this program isn't on the Internet. In YouTube, type "side by side esl videos" to find them.
Keyboarding Practice - Click on
TUTORIALS in middle of page. Don't forget to practice typing when you have time. It will help you to more easily use computer programs and the Internet.

Week 3 - Using Computers to Communicate With Each Other

This is the week we sign up for Session 2 of Summer School. We'll do this in class June 17 and 18. You can add classes next week, on June 26 and 27,
in the A & E Office on the 1st floor.

After we do that, let's use an online program called Voicethread. I've posted this picture online, and you will learn how to comment on it.
First, you must have an email account.
Next, you need to register for Voicethread.
[If you have done this before, and you know the email and password you used, please sign in.]
Finally, sign in to your Voicethread account. Look for these Voicethreads the teacher made. Comment on them. We'll practice in class.

Week 2 New Websites and Work To Do
This week we're going to learn about computers - names of hardware, software, how they work, etc.
When you have finished studying about computers, take this quiz:
COMPUTER BASICS QUIZ Click on EXTRAS and go to bottom of page. Now click on "Take This Quiz". There are 15 questions.
1. Learn vocabulary about the computer at this website
We'll practice this in class.
2. Grammar and Vocabulary using 'drag and drop' skills with the mouse. Choose 9. 'animal sounds' - learn what animals say in English. Use CHROME web browser for sound.
3. Learn Internet Safety Techniques - complete information about
Internet Safety and what you can do.
4. Practice typing, or keyboarding, here.
5. Another keyboarding practice site
6. We'll look at "a Maths Dictionary For Kids" online. You can
learn a lot of new vocabulary at this website.
